Air Conditioning + Google Earth = Happy Happy Joy Joy
Today was a momentous day. A dual dose of happiness.
1). For the past few weeks the classic upstate NY weather has been in full effect. Hot, humid, and miserable. It’s funny really cause I grew up around here and never really had a problem with the humid summers. I remember them sure, but I never loathed them like this. It’s been kinda tough trying to keep productive on my games portfolio as I cook in my own juices. It’s even gone as far as having an effect on my daily attitude. I’ve been grumpy, depressed, and quick to snap out at the stupidest things. A general asshole of sorts. Well I’m happy to report that through the great wonders that are beheld in my dad’s basement, I’ve finally got a relief from the heat in the form of an old clunky air conditioner. It may look like it was made in the 70’s, with it’s wood grain paneling, but as long as it keeps spitting cool sweet air at me, I’ll continue to sing it’s praises.
2). Google just can’t do wrong it seems. Not only is it THE best search engine out there, but as a company, they continue to innovate and make the web a more interesting place. Google Earth has been out for a little while now, but I just got around to downloading it today and I must say… this app is fucking dope. Being able to fly around the 3D globe checking out famous sites and looking up my old stomping grounds in Boston and Phoenix is just plain fun. I know I’m only beginning to scratch the surface of what this little program can do as I’ve heard about some crazy hacks are out there, but for the time being I’m happy just doing basic driving directions.
So do yourself a favor… crank the AC, download Google Earth, and have some summer fun.

My friends visited this pond in Tokyo just last weekend and I just visited it today. Cool, right?

Hey Doug - err - Danny - err Doughnut — err
Keep up with the good work with the blog. I enjoying reading your adventures, rants, and gaming updates!
Nice find on that old clunker in the bowles of Club Dough. Hope your AC proves a little relief. The reason we never complained about the heat growing up is b/c we were amphibious - we lived in the creek.
It was The Creek - Shark - EEEE-Monster - Wrestling - Golden Nuggets from Shwann’s Ice Cream - and Fassett building underwater fortress while Barown achieved zero-G in a eye-lid-rippin’ (patented) Seat Drop!
Ahhh - those were the days, my man. So, if you ever get too hot or the AC goes on the Fritz Bubba Squeach … just remember The Bridge is calling! Just remember to Exit - No Leach Pile side!
Hope you aren’t getting too pissed and depressed! Just keep your head up, man. You wanna make money and get the hell out - it isn’t gonna be free - you have to work for it - and EARN it. That means hard work and sweat. So … you got the sweat part down - now get down to hard work. Anyways, stay positive. I’ll be home around Christmas time. Hopefully I will see you in
Great find on Google Earth. Yep. That is right where we went in Ueno. We entered at that middle path at the bottom - took a left and walked clock-wise. At the bend to turn up - there is a museum - made of donated items from local people representing classic life in Ueno - where 140,000 died in the great Earthquake and Fire of 1923.
Then we exited … took the two men and the gorilla … and headed north (actually UP is West according to this photo - but the temptation of working in a Predator line was too strong). That semi-circle is a perfomance stage area - think Hatch shell only smaller - then we followed the path up and around and through to the middle. Then headed down toward the round object - a small Shinto shrine. Then back down to start.
Really cool that I can share it with you in this way.
Try doing the same for our apartment. Find Ota-ku. Then find Magome station - it is on the Asakusa subway line. We are actually in what is called Kitamagome area. That will get you close. The other picture you sent me actually shows GOTANDA! That is where I work! Sweet!
