The High Cost of Being a Gamer During the Fall Christmas Season
Being a gamer can be tough business sometimes. Sure, the positives most always out weight the negatives, but ask any gamer what they hate most about this time of year and they’ll most likely say “there’s too many games to play.” I know what you’re saying, “they’ve got it so rough”, but what this statement is really saying, is that there are too many games to buy.
What it really comes down to is that game publishers still hold fast to this idea that you can make the most money off of game sales during the Christmas shopping season. While it is true that more money is spent overall during this time of the year, any gamer will tell you that playing games is a year round passion, not something you just do while it’s cold outside.
That being said, I’ve got a laundry list of games I’m interested in playing this fall/winter season and I’m beginning to think that it’s just going to be impossible to afford all this stuff. Take a look at my wish list for this season:

10/28/07 - Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock **
10/30/07 - Naruto: Rise of a Ninja

11/13/07 - Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Plus *

11/13/07 - Crysis
11/19/07 - Unreal Tournament III: Collector’s Edition
* Note: I don’t own a PSP or a Playstation 3, but hope to soon.

That’s quite a list isn’t it? There’s enough games listed there to make me more than happy for a whole year, let alone a three month period. If you add up the cost of everything you’re looking at a whopping $945 before taxes!!!
