A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away….
So for one reason or another, I was cleaning up the old computer room yesterday and while going through the stack of dusty CDs that have collected in the corner of the room, I came across some old files that I thought were lost a long time ago. I was about to just toss them into the recycling bin, but I thought what the hell, I might as well take a look at them and make sure there isn’t anything worth keeping on them. Well I’m glad I did! Hidden among all the old warez apps (anyone need a cracked version of Max 5?) were a few directories full of random MP3s, pictures, and movie clips… stuff that I haven’t seen in years (can someone tell me why I saved that first look shaky cam footage of Wind Waker?). A couple of the files brought a smile to my face, while some literally made me laugh out loud when I got to thinking about what was going on that time in my life. Ah, memories…
Here’s one of the gems that I found and threw up on YouTube for your viewing pleasure. It’s the result of a UAT visual effects workshop that my bro Tim and I did back in like early 2002 (I think). We were trying our hands at some lightsaber rotoscoping and came up with this little test shot. I can still remember exporting the footage to the Photoshop film strip format (probably old and antiquated now a days) and going through frame by frame, drawing in the lightsabers. Time consuming for sure, but still good times.
