Site Redesign Part 01

I’ve been racking my brain lately to come up with a new site design as I’m quite tired, and frankly disgusted, at the design I’ve been sporting here on my blog since its inception in 2005. Not only is it visually outdated, but the CSS is incomplete and doesn’t begin to cover all the elements I’d like to start displaying on my posts. It’s just got to go.

So to remedy the situation I’ve been scouting and compiling elements from different websites and magazines that I think are cool and would make an interesting layout for the new design. A major part of this search has been for an interesting and unique color scheme. I want a scheme that has some flair and fits with the game/tech slant of my blog. Lucky for me, I came across the awesome Adobe Kuler site. A color junkie’s wet dream, Kuler is a cool, interactive web app for creating and sharing color schemes. You can create your own scheme or search for schemes by color or by tags words, and if you feel inclined, you can download the swatch for your Adobe Creative Suite apps. Very cool stuff. I highly recommend it for any pros out there or even for those of you who like playing around with colors.

I did a little searching myself but just couldn’t find the exact scheme I was looking for, so I created my own, neotechnophilia. (see below) As you can tell, I’m still into different shades of grey, but I’m pretty happy with the contrasting blue and green colors which will play a more prominent role in the design. It’s going to be fun to play around with these and see how they work. Feel free to drop me some comments/critiques, as I’d love to hear what you think.
